Ruva Ngwenya

Ruva has been gracing Australian stages since her professional debut in 2013 as Shenzi in The Lion King. Her intrinsic musical instinct pays homage to her Zimbabwean heritage. After attending the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), where she studied a Bachelor of Music Performance, she launched into her professional career. On completion of The Lion King, a string of successful musicals followed, including We Will Rock You, Dusty and the Australian premiere of award-winning musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. She was honoured to play the role of Winnie Mandela in the first English production of Madiba, an uplifting new work celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela. Ruva released her EP Humble Brag, a vibrant body of work full of pop and RnB influences. 2019 saw Ruva join the cast of Caroline or Change for The Hayes Theatre. Most recently she received critical acclaim for her gospel performance as Sarah’s Friend in The Production Company’s final piece, Ragtime.
