Ryan Gonzalez

Ryan is a versatile performer with a career in theatre, cabaret and film. Recent credits include Fun Home (Sydney Theatre Company) and Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys (Newtheatricals), which gained him a Green Room Award nomination. Ryan performed to critical acclaim as Usnavi De La Vega in Blue Saint’s production of In the Heights for which he won the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Male Actor in a Musical. He played Freddy in The View Upstairs, Charles Guiteau in Assassins for the Sydney Opera House season, Eddie Ryan in Funny Girl in Concert, and was a featured soloist in the Bernstein Songbook Series for Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Other theatre credits include ¡Hispanic Attack!, his one-man cabaret show, Gabriel in Kiss of the Spider Woman (Melbourne Theatre Company), Country Mike in Velvet Rewired for Adelaide Fringe, Angel in Kinky Boots, the role of Wayne Burns/understudy Scott Hastings in Strictly Ballroom The Musical, King Kong, Legally Blonde, Virgil in Violet, and Opera Australia’s Carmen. Ryan’s feature film credits include George Miller’s Happy Feet 2, The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann, and the Australian film Goddess.
